50th Post Challenge!

Thanks, everyone, for all your support and encouragement throughout this whole blogging process! This blog started out with a glance up at the sky and my lament that the smog and light pollution in Los Angeles blots out everything but the brightest of stars, which happened to be Orion's belt that night. The next thing I knew, we're 50 posts in now!

To celebrate my 50th post, I'm going to hold the first ever TSN competition. Think you can make a TSN-style post? I bet you can. Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to make a caption for the following picture:

What's going on? What are the fish thinking? What greater truths about life can be learned? Put on your creativity caps, and leave your submission(s) in the comments section. (If you read this on Facebook or another website other than blogspot, be sure to follow the link to the original post, so all the comments are in one place.)

Best of luck, and hope you enjoy my next 50 posts!

What's on my plate is on my mind

Do not be alarmed. This is only a test.

Panel 1: Ephesians 6:10-20
Panel 2:1 Corinthians 9:24-25 (and other places)
Panel 3: 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 (HT to Matt K. for bringing up the question in Bible Study Methods)

Note: Since I've resolved to not let this blog become a broadcast of the minutia of my life I won't get into the reasons behind it, but I wanted to apologize to my readers (all two of you) for the downtime this past week. To (sort of) make up for it, I'm posting this a few hours early.

Do I pass through summer, or does it pass me by?

How great a debtor, daily I'm constrained to be

Text: HT to Michelle H. for bringing to attention Satan's words in Paradise Lost Book 4:
I sdeind subjection, and thought one step higher [ 50 ]
Would set me highest, and in a moment quit
The debt immense of endless gratitude,
So burthensome, still paying, still to ow;
Forgetful what from him I still receivd,
And understood not that a grateful mind [ 55 ]
By owing owes not, but still pays, at once
Indebted and dischargd; what burden then?

Comfort - because God and a hug work just fine
